About

I’m Michal Bar-Or Karro, a poet and writer living in the foothills of Lion’s Head in Cape Town, South Africa. Born and raised in Jerusalem, my poetry has appeared in literary magazines, journals, websites, and art exhibitions in Israel and internationally.

Two of my poetry collections were published with the support of the Yehoshua Rabinovich Foundation for the Arts and the Israeli Ministry of Culture and Sports, with a third collection forthcoming.

My work grows from a desire to explore perception, devotion, and the spaces where language meets revelation. I write to listen — to the world, to the unseen, and to the shifting voices within. My poems move between the personal and the metaphysical, sometimes emerging as a masculine self, sometimes as a fierce feminine presence, an inner adversary, or even angelic collectives. Through these voices, I explore tension, intimacy, and the threads that bind self, word, and world.

For me, writing is a conversation — with memory, with spirit, and with everything that lives in between. I hope my words open a space for you to listen, to feel, and to dwell, even briefly, in the world I inhabit when I write.
